Muslims urged to Remain Calm Following Cemetery Desecration

04 Nov 2005

The Muslim Council of Britain is deeply saddened to hear of the desecration of over thirty-five Muslim grave stones in a cemetery in Handsworth, Birmingham.

“We have regrettably seen a number of similar Islamophobic attacks on Muslim cemeteries and mosques around the country in recent months. This latest attack appears to be designed to further inflame tensions in the Birmingham area and we would urge British Muslims not to fall for the trap that has been set by the criminal elements who committed this act,” said Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Britain.

The MCB hopes that the Police will be able to apprehend those responsible for this crime and bring them to justice swiftly.
